The Best Fettuccine Alfredo Recipe

This simple fettuccine alfredo tastes like your favorite restaurant! A few basic ingredients make this deceptively easy in under 30 minutes.

– 1 (16-ounce) package fettuccine pasta (454g) – ½ cup unsalted butter (113g) – 3 garlic cloves minced (1 tablespoon) – 1 cup heavy whipping cream (240mL) – 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese (113g), plus more for serving – ½ teaspoon ground black pepper – ¼ teaspoon salt

Boil a large pot of salted water on medium-high. Follow package directions to cook pasta. Keep ¼ cup pasta water. Drain pasta carefully.

Step 1

When pasta cooks, Melt butter in a large saucepan on medium. Always stirring, cook garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add cream. Stir often until the cream is warm and foamy, about 1 minute.

Step 2

Add parmesan, pepper, and salt and stir smooth. Whisk intermittently until sauce thickens, 1–2 minutes. Uncooked spaghetti should be heated slowly, stirring occasionally.

Step 3

Add cooked pasta. Add saved pasta water to the sauce by tablespoon until desired consistency. Serve immediately as the sauce thickens. Add parmesan and black pepper if desired.
