Mezze: How To Build The Perfect Mediterranean Party Platter Recipe 

Today we'll discuss mezze, one of my favorites. The party plate becomes more appetizing with mezze. It's easy to make the ideal Mediterranean mezze platter with hummus, baba ganoush, fresh vegetables, and other Mediterranean favorites. 

Ingredient

– 2 baby eggplants, sliced lengthwise (½" or so in width) – Salt – Olive oil – Traditional Creamy Hummus or 10-oz tub quality store-bought alternative – Homemade Roasted Red Pepper Hummus or 10-oz tub quality store-bought alternative – ½ bell pepper, any color, cored – Homemade Greek Tzatziki or quality store-bought tzatziki – 6 Campari tomatoes, quartered – 6 Persian (baby) cucumbers, sliced into spear – Pitted Kalamata olive – 1 15-oz can good quality marinated artichoke heart – 6 oz Greek feta cheese, cubed (not crumbled) – 6 oz baby mozzarella cheese ball – 3 oz prosciutto di parma – 6 California fresh figs, halved  – 1 tsp sumac – Pita bread or your choice of rustic European bread for serving

Direction

Spread the eggplant slices out on some paper towels and salt them. For about 20 minutes, let the eggplants "sweat out" any bad taste. Dry with a towel.

Heat the oven to 400°F. Pour olive oil over eggplant slices on a lightly greased baking sheet. Roast 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, arrange the remaining ingredients on big plates. Start with opposing hummus spreads. Put Tzatziki sauce in the cored bell pepper in the middle of the dish. Place the remaining ingredients on the dish as desired.

 Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of sumac on the eggplant after roasting it to a beautiful medium-brown. Place roasted eggplant on a dish.

Remove this mezze party dish from the fridge a few minutes before guests arrive. Enjoy with warm pita, crostini, or your favorite crackers!
