Layered Hummus Dip Recipe

Layered hummus dip is a quick and easy way to make a simple dinner or snack. On top of the creamy hummus are fresh veggies, toasted pine nuts, and beef that has been salted. 

Ingredient

– Make this Homemade Hummus Recipe, or use 16-oz store-bought quality hummus that you like. – Extra virgin olive oil – 1 small red onion, chopped, divided – 2 garlic cloves, minced – ½ green bell pepper, cored and chopped – 8 ounces lean ground beef, I used ButcherBox 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef – 1 teaspoon ground allspice – ½ teaspoon sumac – ¼ teaspoon cinnamon – ½ cup canned tomato sauce – 1 Roma tomato, chopped – ½ cup chopped fresh parsley – 3 tablespoon toasted pine nuts, optional

This creamy homemade hummus recipe or 16-oz of excellent store-bought plain hummus may be prepared ahead.To prepare the spicy beef topping, heat 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil in a pan until shimmering but not smoking.

Add most of the onions, saving 1 tablespoon for later. Add garlic and green peppers. Stir frequently over medium-high heat for 4 minutes to soften.

Sauté lean ground beef for 8 minutes to brown. Drain oil well and heat skillet again. Add kosher salt, pepper, spices, sumac, and cinnamon to meat. Add tomato sauce and boil 5 minutes, stirring.

Layer the hummus dip! Serve hummus in a bowl. A large sprinkle of excellent extra virgin olive oil (I used our Early Harvest Greek olive oil) Add seasoned meat, diced tomatoes, parsley, the leftover red onion, and toasted pine nuts

Immediately serve with pita pockets that have been warmed up or with these homemade pita chips.
