Bravas Sauce (Salsa Brava) Recipe

With a few cupboard items like extra virgin olive oil, smoked paprika, and tomato paste, bravas sauce is easy to create! Drizzle over hot cooked potatoes for wonderful patatas bravas. 

Ingredient

– ¼ cup Extra virgin olive oil – 2 garlic cloves, sliced – 1 tablespoon tomato paste – 2 teaspoons smoked paprika – 1 teaspoon crushed pepper flakes, more or less to your liking – 1 tablespoon cornstarch – 1 cup vegetable broth – ½ to 1 teaspoon sherry vinegar or red wine vinegar, I used red wine vinegar

Direction

Heat ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil in a skillet or pan over medium heat. Throw in the garlic slices and fry until they are golden brown and the oil is shimmering, approximately two minutes.

Discard or reuse the pan garlic.Whisk in tomato paste, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, and cornstarch on low heat.

 Whisk in the vegetable broth slowly until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Add ½-1 tsp red wine vinegar, mix again, and turn off heat.

Serve in a dish, sprinkle over patatas bravas, or keep in a mason jar. Cool the sauce before refrigerating.
