Arabic Tea With Fresh Mint Recipe

Sharing my family's Arabic tea recipe. This warm and easy steeped mint tea recipe just requires water, black loose-leaf tea, fresh mint, and sugar or honey.

Ingredient

– 6 cups water – 2 teaspoons loose-leaf black tea, or more if you like your tea strong – 6-8 fresh mint leaves, a large handful – sugar or sweetener, optional

Direction

Boil water in a tea kettle or medium saucepan. Stir in the tea and boil for 1 minute to "agitate" the leaves.

Add fresh mint leaves shortly after turning off the heat. Cover and steep tea for 5 minutes. The ideal tea color is amber red (deep red implies oversteeping).

Pour tea into transparent teacups and sift the leaves using a tiny mesh strainer. Serve sugar on the side so visitors may add as needed.
